Hey Marty here,
I wanted to share with you the story of one of my new students,
A couple of weeks back Robert scheduled a lesson with me. Robert looked a little like a deer in the headlights when he
greeted me at the front door. His cocker spaniel was howling and his 2 young children were
screaming over which video game to play. Robert's wife politely said hello & went over to mediate the kid's dispute.
We then escaped to the room where has has his home office, inside
his sanctuary he had a selection of amazing acoustic & electric guitars.
Robert said he really wanted to make these instruments more than
office decorations.
As we sat down Robert told me he played off and on for years but
never really stuck with it, rather than jump right in and give him
a lesson I wanted to try and figure out what got him off course.
Robert told me he started to practice with the best intentions but
would soon get sidetracked with the demands of a young family, work
pressures plus the list of daily duties we all have to deal with
everyday.
Wow, I thought to myself man this guy needs to have some fun, I
asked him what a few of his favorite songs were, Robert Said he loved
80's rock especially Guns n Roses.
Let's try this, I showed Robert the simple 3 chord progression & a basic strum
pattern to (sweet child of mine) his eyes lit up as i played some
basic solo licks over the chords he played.
Robert said: "Marty this is a blast" (A lightbulb went off in my head)
There must be a ton of people that want to use the guitar to relax
from the day and use music to have fun.
Robert's past teacher's gave him boring scales, it was just like another job.
Since 90 percent of all hit songs from the 70's to today are just 3
or 4 chords with a strum pattern I decided to put together what I
call The RUT BUSTER DVD solution
You will learn to have fun again playing the guitar.
This series inlcudes 3 DVD's jam packed with almost 4 hours
of easy acoustic chord progressions (which is just a fancy name for
a song)
